Important Safety Consideration

Before you consider purchasing a "used" life support system from a total stranger, that is, a BCD, Regulator - Octo setup keep in mind that the safety and even the very lives of yourself, your spouse, your children and loved ones could be placed at unnecessary risk. Diving Equipment should be meticulously maintained and serviced - inspected annually. This is clearly not the case with the vast majority of used gear on the market. Depreciation on well maintained gear is nominal which means you NEVER get the so called " good deal" Our 37 years in the business has consistently shown us that the costs associated with bringing used equipment up to code and more importantly safety specs, make the investment in used gear a losing proposition with one exception, store rentals which are sold annually . Your investment and subsequent service in most used gear, more than not, exceeds what you could have purchased new equipment for in the first place, particularly with the Value brands we carry, moreover, using, or worse having your unsuspecting family member using un-serviced, used life support equipment, may place them at great risk, after all non maintained or improperly maintained life support gear only needs to fail once. Being penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to life support equipment usually doesn't give you a second chance. Checkout all the options and do the "right thing". Invest only in New - Warrantied - Fully Functioning Dive Equipment, or well maintained former rental gear from a reputable store. That is the only way to get the really "good deal" that you have been searching for.

DIVINGS MOST COMMON MYTH

Perhaps the longest running myth in scuba diving has to do with the wetsuit and its ability to keep you warm. Most divers, including many Instructors believe that a "thicker" wetsuit will keep you warmer than a thin wetsuit. In other words a 3mm wetsuit is not as warm as say a 7mm wetsuit. By that reckoning, an 8mm wetsuit should keep your body temperature 110 degrees and a 10mm wetsuit should produce a body temperature of 120 and so forth. Obviously this is not the case. The fact is a "thicker" wetsuit will keep you warm (body temperature) LONGER, and not Warmer. "thicker wetsuits" simply delay the inevitable, and the rate of heat loss is slower. Whatever your body temperature is, it will remain the same regardless of suit thickness.Only the time in which you feel chilled will be different.

Fact: Rear Zip suits typically last much longer and generally "feel warmer" than front Zip suits.

Choose a wetsuit with NO SEAMS in the arm pits, or groin area.

Diamond gussets eliminate heat loss in these critical areas.

So Remember "thicker suits don't keep you warmer, they keep you warm longer"

To really stay warm, Consider a dry suit, or rather than dive,

enjoy a hot toddy in front of a fireplace :)

The IQ-750 Element II is TUSA's newest advanced 3-button dive computer. 

The Element II can be operated as an Air computer, Nitrox (EANx) computer, digital depth gauge/timer or as a free dive depth gauge/timer.  The IQ-750 offers several desirable features including: Water-activation, 2 Mix Gas Switching ability,  a large alphanumeric and backlit display, audible and visual alarms, advanced user safety settings, and PC download/upload.  In addition to offering the latest comprehensive computer features, the IQ-750 adds a Deep Stop function for enhanced safety.  

Deep Stop Function
Several TUSA computers feature an optional deep stop function for additional safety. The deep stop mode is activated when a dive exceeds 80 FT (24M) for more than 1 second. Upon ascent, the computer will display a Deep Safety Stop screen and the recommended stop depth for a period of 2 minutes. This deep stop is highly recommended as additional opportunity to off-gas, but is not mandatory. If the diver chooses not to serve the stop it will not adversely affect the remaining No-Decompression Limits of the dive.

ADVENTURE DIVING PRODUCT TIP

We often hear the question " Is there an advantage in selecting a wrist computer over a console mounted model" 

The answer is a decidedly YES!. Although console mounted computer are very popular and have been for many years, primarily due to their ease and not having to attach them on each dive. Its important to realize though, that wrist mount computers last far longer, perhaps as much as 5 times longer on average because they are not subjected to the same abuse. Console mounted computers often drag along the bottom and strike the tank during entry if not properly secured. They are exposed to more sunlight out of the water and often get "beat up" before, during and after the dive. On safety and deco stops your required to hold the line, bc deflator and computer at the same time, a somewhat tenuous process. By their very nature wrist computers worn on the right wrist (wearing a computer on the left wrist will cause rapid ascent warnings when you raise your arm to operate your BCD, and are tough to monitor while using your bcd inflator/deflator) will not be exposed to the same elements a console mounted computer is and generally better cared for as a watch would be. Cosmetically the difference is obvious as well. One final advantage to wrist mounted computers is that they encourage the use of "backup" analog depth - pressure - compass consoles
